Founding Engineer – Data Lead (Generative AI)

About the Opportunity

We are an stealth AI research lab teaching machines to be genuinely creative. Founded by a top-tier team of startup-minded engineers and researchers, we have built proprietary, state-of-the-art (SOTA) generative models across text, image, and video functions, heading toward our private beta release this Fall.

As we scale our physical lab in Dumbo, Brooklyn, we are seeking a Founding Engineer to take complete ownership of our multimodal data pipeline end-to-end.

In Generative AI, a model is only as good as the data it learns from. In this role, you won't just build pipelines - you will define how creative data is sourced, structured, and evaluated at the highest level.

The Mission

• End-to-End Ownership: Architect, scale, and optimize the complete data pipeline—from acquisition and annotation to storage, analysis, and dataset compilation for SOTA model training
• Multimodal Strategy: Drive data discovery across text, images, and video to unlock novel creative capabilities
• Model-Data Diagnostics: Work closely with AI researchers to analyze model outputs, identify missing capabilities, and design targeted datasets to close performance gaps
• Expert-Level Data Quality: Establish rigorous labeling and evaluation processes that capture how human experts in creative fields judge world-class work.

What We Are Looking For

• Generative AI & Creative Tech Experience: Hands-on experience working with data in generative models or creative domains. A genuine intuition for creative data is essential for this role
• Data Pipeline Mastery: Proven track record of building, scaling, and operating data pipelines from raw, unstructured inputs to training-ready datasets across multimodal formats (text, image, video
• Strong Analytical & Statistical Foundation: Deep expertise in statistical analysis to evaluate data composition and quantify its direct impact on model performance
• Leadership & Ownership: A history of leading data strategy, setting technical direction, and executing with high autonomy in fast-paced startup environment
