Web Developer (Hybrid)

Cardiff 40K - 50K Permanent

Location: Hybrid (Cardiff, 2 days per week)

I'm happy to be working with a Digital Agency with over 20 years in the industry, they offer a supportive, flexible working environment and are in the process of becoming an Employee Ownership Trust, meaning joining this company and contributing to their success will directly benefit you!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and deploy new websites and web applications.
  • Enhance and upgrade existing web solutions.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
  • Collaborate within a dynamic team to deliver high-quality projects.

You'll be deployed on a variety of projects, spanning from sites for small business to working on infrastructure with large banking institutions - safe to say there will be something new, exciting and challenging to work on regularly!

Required Skills:

They're pretty relaxed on the type of tech you've been able to work on thus far, however you will need to have experience working as a fullstack web developer, as this will be a true fullstack role.

The following is not necessarily essential but would be preferred:

  • Front and back-end development experience.
  • Experience within PHP and ideally advanced Wordpress development (e.g. custom, not using packaged themes etc.).
  • Proficient in HTML, JavaScript, and Sass/CSS.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with cloud server setup and maintenance.
  • Any experience with Roots.io framework when using Wordpress would be MAJORLY advantageous.
  • Experience with React and/or NextJS
  • Knowledge of JAM stack, Ruby/RoR, and database systems like MySQL/Postgres.

Personal Attributes:

Being a small team (you'd be joining a team of 12 total, with 4 devs alongside your), you need to be a self sufficient, pragmatic developer - they are very supportive and are happy to help you train up in the variety of tech they use, but this wouldn't suit a developer who is finding their feet still.

What’s On Offer:

Among the standard benefits, they also provide

  • Flexible hours (8 hours between 7.30am-6.30pm)
  • Becoming an EOT - meaning direct bonuses and shares in the company based on company performance
