Senior Staff Software Engineer

My client is a YC-backed startup building AI voice agents that handle real phone conversations at scale. Their platform lets businesses automate calls that until now needed a human on the line, and it's already handling live traffic for customers.

They're small, early, and moving fast. The product works, the demand is there, and now it's about building the team and the systems to meet it

They're hiring a staff-level engineer to be one of their earliest and most senior hires. This person will own core architecture and technical direction, make the foundational calls, and set the engineering bar as they scale. It's a build-from-the-ground-up role, so they're looking for someone with 10+ years shipping production systems who's operated at senior/staff level and is comfortable with the ambiguity of an early-stage environment.

Role and responsibilities:

• Own architecture and technical direction for core systems
• Ship production code and make foundational engineering decisions
• Build and scale infrastructure to handle growing live traffic
• Set engineering standards and practices as the team grows
• Work closely with founders on product and technical strategy
