Senior Software Engineer

We are hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join a fast-growing, venture-backed AI startup. You will be a core contributor on a small, high-calibre engineering team building ambitious backend systems from the ground up. This is a hands-on role for someone who thinks deeply about software and wants their work to matter.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own production Python services handling high-throughput, latency-sensitive workloads
• Architect scalable backend systems with a focus on clean abstractions and long-term maintainability
• Contribute across the stack including APIs, data pipelines, infrastructure, and integrations
• Drive technical decisions and set a high engineering bar through rigorous code review and architectural input
• Collaborate directly with founders and product to shape what gets built and how

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, with time at a larger company and direct exposure to systems operating at significant scale
• Deep expertise in Python, with strong opinions on how to write it well
• Proven experience building and scaling production backend systems
• Comfort with cloud infrastructure and modern deployment tooling (AWS, Kubernetes, or similar)
• Based in New York City or San Francisco (no relocation support)
• Experience with conversational or voice AI systems is a strong plus
• Early-stage startup experience is a strong plus
