Senior Backend Engineer

My client are hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to help scale the core systems behind a high growth product. This role is for an engineer who cares deeply about system design, reliability, and performance.

You will own critical backend infrastructure and influence architectural decisions across services that must be fast, resilient, and cost aware. This is a hands on role with real ownership and clear technical expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Own backend architecture and core services

• Build low latency, fault tolerant systems

• Define service boundaries, data models, and contracts

• Set performance baselines and SLOs

• Design for durability and graceful degradation

• Own durable workflows and queue orchestration using Temporal or similar

• Build and operate Redis caching at scale

• Lead design reviews and mentor engineers

• Partner closely with product and frontend teams

Ideal Candidate

• Strong backend experience with Node and Typescript, Go is a plus

• Deep understanding of distributed systems and durable execution

• Hands on experience with Temporal or equivalent systems

• Experience running production systems in the cloud

• Strong product sense and pragmatic decision making

• Opinionated, evidence driven, comfortable going deep on unfamiliar patterns

Nice to have experience with agentic systems or LLM powered workflows.

This role is based in New York City and is fully in office. US citizens or Green Card holders only.
