PHP Developer (Laravel)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced PHP Developer with strong Laravel expertise to join a company in the financial sector based in Amsterdam. You’ll work on secure, high-performance applications that support financial products, internal platforms, and customer-facing systems.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building well-structured back-end systems and working in a regulated, high-impact environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and optimize PHP applications using Laravel
• Design and implement RESTful APIs and backend services
• Collaborate with frontend developers, product owners, and business stakeholders
• Translate business and functional requirements into scalable technical solutions
• Ensure application security, performance, and reliability
• Write clean, testable, and well-documented code
• Contribute to code reviews and technical improvements across the platform

Requirements

• Strong experience with PHP and the Laravel framework
• Solid understanding of MVC architecture and backend best practices
• Experience with relational databases (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL)
• Familiarity with API design, authentication, and authorization mechanisms
• Experience working in or for the financial services sector (banking, insurance, fintech, payments, etc.)
• Fluent Dutch is required (spoken and written)
• Based in, or willing to work from, Amsterdam

Nice to have

• Experience with frontend technologies (e.g. Vue.js or React)
• Knowledge of Docker and containerised environments
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines
• Understanding of security and compliance requirements in regulated environments
