My client are a cutting-edge technology start-up based in the UK, specializing in building AI tools for large corporate clients. Their mission is to empower organizations with advanced AI solutions to drive optimisation and efficiency. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a passionate and skilled Data Scientist to join our dynamic team and play a pivotal role in shaping the ML functions within our business.
About the Role
As a Lead Data Scientist, you will be involved in everything NLP. Splitting your time between supporting and leading a team of 3-5 Data Scientists whilst researching and delivering production models. You will work closely with the data engineers and software developers to breathe life and skills into their core and extended products.
This is a role for an experienced technical Lead, who can combine hands-on work with team management.
Responsibilities
Leadership:
•Manage and mentor a team of 3-5 data scientists, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
•Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship to team members, promoting their professional growth.
•Define and prioritize project goals and objectives, ensuring the team's alignment with company objectives.
Delivery:
•Lead the development of machine learning-based applications, from ideation to deployment.
•Apply your expertise in Natural Language Processing (NLP) to solve complex problems and enhance AI tools.
•Collaborate with software engineers and data engineers to integrate machine learning models into production systems.
•Research and share the latest developments in Natural Language Understanding, Natural Language Generation, and Graph Neural Networks
•Define infrastructure requirements and architecture for Model Training and Inference
•Review performance of production models, performing evaluation and tuning
Requirements
•Previous experience leading a small team of Data Scientists or Engineers
•Proven experience as a data scientist, with a track record of delivering machine learning-based applications commercially into production (not academia or research)
•Engineering mindset with experience working on cloud platforms (ideally, AWS although Azure and GCP are also fine)
•Expertise in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Python programming
•Excellent communication skills and the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Preferred, non-essential requirements:
•Experience working with AWS Sagemaker pipelines
•Have practical knowledge of the latest transformer language models such as Bert, Roberta, GPT2, etc, and NLP Open Source Libraries e.g. Hugging Face, AI2, OpenAI, Spacy, etc
•Experience working on conversational interfaces
