Freelance Data Engineer

Freelance Data Engineer to support our renewable energy initiatives in Brussels.

Dutch Speaking Required

Must be able to work on-site in Brussels 2/3 times per week

Design, implement, and maintain Azure-based data pipelines and infrastructure to enable data-driven insights and decision-making.

The role:

• Design and develop scalable ETL pipelines and workflows within the Azure ecosystem (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse).
• Build and maintain secure data storage solutions, such as Azure Data Lake and SQL Databases.
• Integrate and process data from various sources, including IoT devices, energy grids, and external APIs.
• Monitor and optimize Azure resources to ensure cost efficiency and performance.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Data Engineer, with a strong focus on Azure-based tools and services.
• Expertise in Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Lake, and other relevant Azure technologies.
• Proficiency in SQL and programming languages such as Python or Scala.
• Strong understanding of data modelling, warehousing, and real-time data processing.
• Experience with energy sector data, IoT integration, or renewable energy systems.
• Knowledge of European energy markets and regulatory frameworks.
