Electronics Design Engineer – Opportunity in Automotive R&D!

Salary: Up to £35K For grad/juniors, Up to £55K for Mid-Senior.

I've began working with a small yet dynamic Research & Development team, specialized in cutting-edge vehicle tracking and alarm/immobiliser systems. Our client is looking for a talented Electronics Design Engineer to join their team and contribute to the development of innovative products in the automotive space.

This role is ideal for someone with experience, ideally 3-5 years, working on embedded systems solutions, especially within automotive, but the team is open to graduates and junior engineers with relevant academic projects or commercial experience in electronics design.

Key Responsibilities:

• Involved in the full product design life cycle, from concept to production.
• Circuit design, including schematics and PCB layout using CadStar / eCadStar / CAD.
• Collaborate across teams: mechanical design, software development, and production.
• Ensure compliance with automotive standards, such as EMC and low voltage safety.
• Hands-on product testing, verification, and report generation, analyzing to component level.
• Assist in designing functional test rigs for in-house use.
• Support purchasing teams with component selection and market trends.

Desired Qualifications:

• Engineering degree or equivalent in electronics or a related field.
• 3-5+ years of professional experience designing embedded systems (ideally for automotive applications) or strong relevant experience through projects.
• Proven expertise in PCB design with mixed analogue, digital, and RF circuits.
• Microcontroller-based system design experience.
• Proficiency in CadStar and/or eCadStar CAD packages.
• Familiarity with National Instruments LabView and I/O equipment is a plus.
